If I wanted to be a photojournalist could I work for National Geographic?
That might be shooting a little high. But all I want to do is take pictures of nature and maybe people and write about it. I want to work for National Geographic, is that even possible?And if not National Geographic, could I work for some other nature magazine? I don't want to only work for the newspaper.
Could you? How can anyone here know. Take this test. Look at an issue of Nat. Geo. Then take an objective look at YOUR photos. Are YOUR photos equal to or better than that? Are you willing to spend years learning the craft of photography so you can produce such output? Are you willing to spend LOTS of your own money in exotic places building a stunning portfolio as a resume for Nat. Geo? They are not going to put a $40,000 Hasselblad in your hands, pay to send you to Africa, and say, "here, take some photos for us".
So CAN it be done? Sure, or no one else would have done it. Can YOU do it? That is totally impossible to know. I hope you can, I sincerely do, but don't expect people on this goofy forum to say yes you can or no you can't. If you are basing success on that, you are already defeated.
