Is today's American comparable to a citizen of the Third Reich?

Illegal wire-taps, suppression of news, rendition, indefinite detention, solitary confinement, water boarding, illegal invasion and occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq. Expropriation of oil and other resources. Installation of a puppet government. US led economic sanctions after the second invasion is believed to be responsible for the deaths of about 500,000 children.
Yes, I agree. Most of the citizens in Germany at this time had the choice to obey or to get killed, and that's not really much of a choice. In a democracy however, you are by far more able to protest against something and actually you decide whatever the country does, at least indirectly by voting for someone or something.
This does not mean that America is bad, it means that citizens in a democracy get certain freedoms and certain rights, but by getting them, they get responsibility too. And we shouldn't forget that.
Now to the comment on how America saved the whole world and everything. From what I've learned America pretty much always does what it thinks is best for it's own good.
America decided to support England and france in WWI because they had more debts to America, and had they lost they wouldn't have been able to pay these debts.
America, as well as it allies in WWII waited until almost the end to stop Hitler. They let him have Austria because they were afraid of losing too much money or not winning. And just when they were sure that they had to win did they do something about that.
Invading Iraq because they searched for mass destructive weapons, because they wanted to save the world before Iraq used something they didn't even have. And because they were already there they ensured that the Iraq sold them the oil. How very convinient and unsuspecting.
